According to tests, the fastest e-scooters in the WORLD can reach 120 km/h and are still unregulated in many countries.
As many authorities around the world consider taking action to ensure there are rules for owning and driving e-scooters, it has been found that the range and speed of many have increased significantly.
Those visiting Gibraltar are literally surrounded by mainly frontier workers who don’t want to drive cars or bikes across the border and can take advantage of the fact that they are portable and can be easily stowed away.
The government there is so concerned that they are introducing new laws requiring drivers to be insured, wear helmets, have lights and not ride on sidewalks, but they are now on the increase and are the cause of accidents.
Imagine the surprise of Belgian police officers who set a speed trap in the city of Mechelen when they drove one of these e-scooters at 43 km/h in a 30 km/h zone with an unregistered, uninsured and not with Drivers wearing protective clothing stopped.
What surprised them even more was that when they examined the scooter at the police station, they found that the model in question had a published top speed of over 100 km/h.
According to a review by Electric Scooter Guide, there is a top ten fastest e-scooters in the world with speeds ranging from 80km/h on the low side to 120km/h on the top, with the original intention of using them for off-road racing.
Considering that the speed limit on any road in Spain is 120km/h, the thought of being overtaken by an e-scooter is pretty scary.
