Over the past few years, Oppo spin-off Realme has launched some phones at competitive prices for a wide range, and Xiaomi has taken the fight off when it comes to offering high-end features on a budget. Now the company has announced that it will will equip the upcoming Realme 8 Pro with a 108MP primary cameraThis is quite an accomplishment given the price range it will fall below. In addition to the massive impairment of the camera resolution, the company also supports them with nice photography tricks.
The 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor performs 9-in-1 pixel binning
Hardware-wise, Realme will use the 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM2 camera sensor with a 1 / 1.52-inch sensor that was launched last September. Equipped with 0.7 μm pixels, this Nonacell uses (9-in-1) pixel binning. Merging nine 0.7 μm pixels into one large 2.1 μm super pixel to capture a brighter, more detailed image.
This sensor is also able to combine three images taken with different exposure levels to create detailed HDR images in real time. It supports 4K video recording at 120 frames per second and even 8K video recording at 24 frames per second. While the camera sensor is impressive in itself, Realme also offers other tricks to highlight the Realme 8 Pro’s budget for its photography capabilities.
The company says the Realme 8 Pro will be the one The first phone in the world to offer tilt-shift time-lapse photography on smartphones with 10 times faster playback. The tilt-shift mode converts real scenes into a miniaturized landscape. The star mode for night sky photography has also been improved and should now also be able to brighten the stars in order to get a razor-sharp image.
Additionally, the 108MP camera in Realme 8 Pro will introduce three new effects in portrait mode, viz. Neo, Dynamic Bokeh and AI color portrait. Check out the camera examples in the tweet below to see what these new modes are all about. With a view to the competition, the chief competitor Xiaomi has also promised to launch an inexpensive Redmi Note 10 series phone with a 108 megapixel camera this week.
