Scooter allegedly stolen after being purchased with a counterfeit $ 50 invoice

Rita Majid thought she had finally sold her Yamaha scooter after listing it for sale on the Facebook marketplace three weeks ago.

“(The man) said ‘can I come and take a test drive?’ And I said then you have to keep your license copy or your money and he said, “Okay, I can give you the money,” said Ms. Majid.

The thief allegedly handed over a paper-filled envelope and a fake 50-dollar bill before racing down the wine terrace in Klemzig shortly after 9 p.m. yesterday.

The car he arrived in reportedly started in the opposite direction and Ms. Majid said it had different number plates on the front and back.

In the early hours of the morning he was discovered by the police in Pooraka, later followed by officers and is said to have unloaded the scooter.

The man was arrested and charged near Kings Road.

The scooter was returned to its owner damaged and scratched.
