Gremsy and HHLA Sky Partnership

Strategic Partnership Combines Advanced Gimbals, AI Solutions, and Sony Imaging Technology for Greater Efficiency and Precision

Gremsy and HHLA Sky have announced a new partnership aimed at improving industrial drone inspections. This collaboration combines Gremsy’s Pixy LR S-Port gimbals, HHLA Sky’s Integrated Control Center (ICC), and Sony’s digital imaging technology. Together, these companies aim to increase efficiency and accuracy in inspection processes for various industries.

HHLA Sky, a subsidiary of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), specializes in automating drone inspections. By integrating Gremsy’s Pixy LR S-Port gimbals, which now use Sony’s ILX-LR1 cameras, they offer a solution for inspecting large structures from a distance. For instance, HHLA Sky successfully inspected container gantry cranes at the Port of Hamburg without the need for close proximity flights.

Combining Technology for Advanced Inspections

The collaboration integrates Gremsy’s gimbals with HHLA Sky’s ICC. This system manages over 100 drone operations simultaneously from a centralized location, providing remote, beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) control. The ICC, certified to IEC 62443 cybersecurity standards, automates inspection processes and can be deployed in industrial sites around the world. This centralized control reduces delays that typically occur in manual inspections.

A key feature of the partnership is HHLA Sky’s AI-based data pre-processing unit. This system accelerates the transfer of relevant inspection data to experts for evaluation, making the inspection process faster and more efficient.

Sony’s Imaging Technology Boosts Precision

Sony contributes its advanced digital imaging technology to the partnership. The ILX-LR1 camera, featuring a high-resolution 61 MP full-frame sensor, captures detailed images at up to 8 frames per second. These cameras, now integrated into Gremsy’s Pixy LR S-Port gimbals, allow for precise and consistent inspections. Operators gain full control over the camera and gimbal through Sony’s remote software development kit (SDK) and HHLA Sky’s ICC interface.

“We are excited to drive innovation in industrial inspections with HHLA Sky and Sony,” said Vinh Tran, CEO at Gremsy. “By integrating our Pixy LR-Sport gimbals with Sony’s exceptional imaging capabilities and HHLA Sky’s advanced Mobile Robot Management solution, we are enabling a new era of efficiency and accuracy in the inspection industry.”

Matthias Gronstedt, CEO at HHLA Sky, added, “We are proud to partner with Gremsy and Sony to deliver cutting-edge solutions for industrial inspections with drones. Our integrated approach, incorporating Gremsy’s gimbals and Sony’s ILX-LR1 cameras, combined with our ICC, empowers organizations to optimize their inspection processes and achieve exceptional results.”

Automated and Remote Control Capabilities

The new system enables full remote control of the camera and gimbal. Automated recording and precise mission repetition ensure consistent results across inspections. The partnership is designed to meet the needs of organizations seeking to enhance their inspection capabilities with smart technology.
