Pensioner critically injured after being hit by a scooter – driver was unable to cease

A pensioner is hospitalized with serious injuries after being hit by a scooter on a residential street in Rochdale.

The driver of the scooter was unable to stop at the scene of the crime after the collision on Well I’TH ‘Lane on Monday (March 1st).

A 65-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he is staying for treatment.

No arrests were made.

Greater Manchester Police are calling on anyone with information about the incident or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

PC Tom Needham of the GMP Road Policing Unit confirmed the officers were called shortly after noon for a report of a collision with a pedestrian and an electric scooter.

“A man was left in serious condition following this incident and we are doing everything we can to determine the circumstances of the collision,” he said.

“Our thoughts stay with the man and his family while he continues to be treated in the hospital.

“Our investigation into this incident is ongoing and we urge anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward and help us with our investigations.

“Anyone who has CCTV or dash cam material that could help us in our investigation is also asked to report.”
