Former West Method bosses Nissan and Jaguar Land Rover launch electrical scooter model – Automotive Vendor Journal within the UK

The ex-boss of the Nissan UK retail group West Way and previously sales manager of the Tony Lewis brand has brought the Spanish electric scooter brand Silence to Great Britain with four other founders.

The founders also include John Edwards, previously Managing Director of Land Rover UK between 2007 and 2009 and Managing Director of JLR Special Operations from the division’s inception through 2018.

The couple, along with co-founders Kevin Duck and Mike Rose, announced the launch of Silence UK this week.

Silence UK now has a four-piece range up for sale, priced between £ 2,695 and £ 4,995, which will hopefully meet the changing needs of consumers.

The Silence has been in Europe for almost a decade and has already successfully generated more than 66 percent of Spanish and 30 percent of European sales with electric scooters.

So far it has had 21,000 customers in 25 countries.

The scooter is powered by a lithium-ion battery system and has a click-and-go system that allows users to disconnect the battery from the bike and charge it at any 240V socket.

The scooters also have smart technology and the exclusive Silence app for Apple and Android devices
This feature allows you to locate, check, and even lock or unlock your smart scooter from your phone.

You can also plan and track routes with Google Maps via the app.

The company says the electric scooter can cut running costs to around £ 1 per 100 miles, with each bike capable of returning up to 91 miles on a single charge.

Thanks to a speed of 3.9 seconds between 0 and 30 km / h, it has enough power to cope with inner-city traffic.

Silence’s four-model scooters start at £ 2,695 and rise to £ 4,995.

The Silence S01 is equivalent to a 125cc scooter or motorcycle and uses a 5.6 kWh battery and a 9 kW electric motor.

This model offers a range of up to 80 miles and a top speed of 100 km / h, while prices start from £ 4,995.

Next up are the Silence S02 and S02 LS Long Range, which the company sees as mobility options for door-to-door delivery services and business users.

The long range variant is limited to 30 miles per hour, but delivers a range of 91 miles thanks to a 5.6 kWh battery and a 1.5 kW motor.

The more powerful S02 version has a 7 kW motor, which enables speeds of up to 90 km / h and a range of up to 80 km / h. Prices start at £ 3,595 and £ 4,695 respectively.

Finally, there is the S02 LS, which is used as a scooter in the same category as a 50cc motorcycle.

It’s designed with younger riders in mind and only goes 30 mph, while the 2 kWh battery returns up to 35 miles on a single charge. Prices for this model start at £ 2,695.
