Apple’s second technology AirPods Professional might are available two sizes

We’ve been hearing rumors for a few months that Apple is preparing an AirPods Pro successor in the first half of 2021. So far, the details of what Apple has in the pipeline have been pretty thin, which isn’t surprising given Apple’s notoriously secret streaks. A new leak suggests that Apple might offer the second generation AirPods Pro in two sizes, which could be a welcome surprise to my customers and potential buyers. Leakster Mr-White shared a picture of the AirPods Pro 2’s internal components.

New in-house chip and handle-less design

Discovered by the folks at Macrumors, it’s worth noting that the flat link relays come in two sizes, indicating that Apple may be experimenting with two sizes with the same core hardware such as the audio chip and driver. However, it’s also possible that the smaller component is for the rumored AirPods Pro Lite model we’ve heard about lately. Speaking of chips, the tipster notes that The AirPods Pro 2 may use the internal W2 chip.

It seems that the W2 chip will be a successor to the W1 chip built into the standard AirPods and some Beats headphones like the Beats Solo 3 Wireless and Beats PowerBeats 3 Wireless. It enables a seamless pairing experience and is also said to play a role in saving battery juice. At this point it is unclear what improvements the W2 chip in the AirPods Pro 2 will bring to the table compared to the W1 silicon. However, a previous leak mentioned that Apple’s upcoming wireless earbuds will feature a new internal chip.

AirPods Pro Lite are also rumored to be in development

When other rumors emerge Apple is reportedly trying to remove the stem from the second generation AirPods Pro. This would give them a smaller, more manageable profile, similar to what Samsung did with its Galaxy Buds range. Such a design also ensures a better fit in the ear and reduces the risk of the earbuds falling off the ears. And with Apple reportedly offering the AirPods Pro 2 in two sizes, buyers can choose the one that offers a better in-ear fit and experience, especially when it comes to sealing the ear canal and getting better noise isolation.
