Apple CEO Ternus touts all-time record Mac sales in fiscal 2026

Apple CEO John Ternus said on Nov. 3 that Mac sales for fiscal 2026 reached an all-time high, surpassing any previous year. According to CFO Kevan Parekh, the record was driven by strong demand for the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.

Apple’s fourth-quarter revenue totaled $114.5 billion, up 12% from the year-ago quarter, with net income of $30.7 billion and diluted earnings per share of $2.10, according to financial results released Nov. 3. The company also set fiscal year records for revenue ($478.8 billion) and earnings per share ($8.98), along with all-time highs for iPhone and Services revenue, officials said.

In the September quarter, iPhone revenue rose 17% to $57.5 billion, while Services revenue topped $30 billion for the first time, up about 10%, according to Macworld.

CFO Kevan Parekh attributed the Mac sales record to strong demand for the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. The September quarter included the launch of the M6 Mac mini and the M5 Ultra Mac Studio, according to Macworld. Ternus said Apple set September quarter records in revenue, net income, diluted EPS, iPhone revenue ($57.6 billion), Services revenue ($31.6 billion), and Mac revenue in emerging markets, among other categories. Apple also set all-time records for Services revenue and Mac sales in India and Southeast Asia, according to TidBITS.

The earnings call marked Ternus’s first since taking over as CEO, and it followed the usual script under predecessor Tim Cook, according to TidBITS. Apple COO Sabih Khan joined the call and answered operations-related questions.

iPad revenue declined 11%, per Macworld figures; TidBITS reported the decline as 10%. The Mac was up 24% in the September quarter, while iPhone was up 17% and Services up 10%, according to TidBITS. Macworld reported Mac revenue growth for the quarter as 25%.

The record Mac sales follow Apple’s transition to custom Apple Silicon chips, which has driven upgrades and new user adoption through advantages in performance, battery life, and energy efficiency, according to MacRumors. Ternus said every Mac in the latest lineup is “a powerful platform for AI,” with the Mac mini and Mac Studio pushing boundaries of local, private AI, according to TidBITS. The term “AI” appeared 44 times in the call transcript, TidBITS noted.

Ternus said there will be usage limits on features relying on server-side models, including Siri AI, with expanded access available for purchase in the future, according to TidBITS.

The September quarter did not include the new smart-home display, touch-screen laptop, or folding phone, which launched in October, according to Macworld. Apple expects revenue to grow 7-10% in the holiday quarter despite “constrained supply,” which would be the best quarter for revenue in company history, Macworld reported. Upcoming holiday products include the M6 iMac, MacBook Pro, and a new PROLED XDR MacBook, according to Macworld.
