Casio unveiled its upgraded Ring Watch smart platform, the CRW-H001 series, in June 2024, expanding availability through its global online and retail channels. The new models integrate biometric sensors and Bluetooth connectivity while retaining the miniature LCD watch face, marking a shift from the original non-connected CRW-001 ring watch, company officials said.
The CRW-H001 series marks Casio’s transition from a novelty timepiece to a connected wearable by integrating biometric sensors and Bluetooth connectivity into the ring-sized form factor, officials said. The new models retain the miniature LCD watch face familiar from the original CRW-001 ring watch but add continuous heart-rate monitoring, blood-oxygen (SpO₂) tracking, body temperature measurement, sleep tracking, and sports modes including walking, running, and cycling, sources confirmed. The smart Ring Watch also features a low-power vibration motor for discreet notifications of calls, messages, alarms, and health alerts.
Casio launched the CRW-H001 series in China in late 2024 with an official price of 1,990 yuan, equivalent to approximately $294 or €260–€300, according to multiple outlets including Android Authority and Engadget.
Sales were initially restricted to Casio’s China website and local retail channels, with no confirmed global release date as of June 2024. Notebookcheck reported that a global rollout is likely to follow soon, but Casio has not provided specific timing.
The smart Ring Watch uses a rechargeable battery for the health-tracking module, rated for about four to six days of active use and up to 25 days in standby, while the traditional watch portion relies on a separate coin-cell battery with a lifespan of approximately two years, according to company specifications. This dual-battery design maintains the longevity of the classic digital watch functions alongside the new smart features.
Bluetooth connectivity enables synchronization of health and activity data with smartphones through Casio’s dedicated companion app, known as AIZO Ring or AI Z O Ring. The app aggregates fitness, sleep, and health data and is compatible with Android, iOS, and HarmonyOS devices, although some notification functions may be limited on newer versions of HarmonyOS, sources noted. Besides basic notifications, the system supports silent alarms, reminder notifications, calendar alerts, and health anomaly alerts.
The CRW-H001 series adds several health and wellness analytics features, including 24/7 heart rate monitoring, periodic SpO₂ and body temperature measurements, and sleep recovery analysis. It also offers menstrual cycle tracking integrated through the companion app. Reviewers and third-party sites such as Notebookcheck have positioned the device as a competitor to the Oura Ring, highlighting its combined watch display and sensor suite at a lower price point compared to the Oura Ring 5, which starts at $399.
The smart Ring Watch weighs approximately 19 grams, up from about 16 grams in the original CRW-001 model, reflecting the added sensors and electronics, according to product specifications. Casio offers the CRW-H001M-8 model in a single silver color with full-metal construction and three fixed sizes—small, medium, and large—covering inner diameters from about 19.3 mm to 20.9 mm. The device maintains the retro digital style characteristic of Casio’s earlier ring watches while modernizing the internals.
The CRW-H001 series is shipped in a special presentation box, underscoring its positioning as both a piece of jewelry and a technical product. Company officials described the evolution from the original CRW-001 ring watch, launched globally with black and silver variants and powered by a conventional coin-cell battery, as a shift toward a fully connected wearable platform. The original CRW-001 was marketed as a “Casio Watch, jewelry sized,” emphasizing style and novelty over smart connectivity or health tracking.
Casio’s move into the smart ring market with the CRW-H001 series follows growing consumer interest in wearable health technology. Third-party coverage from Engadget and Notebookcheck in 2026 described the launch as one of the most unique wearable introductions of the year, blending watch culture, jewelry design, and health technology in a compact form factor. As of mid-2024, Casio has yet to announce plans for a broader international release beyond China.
