Pioneering the Future of Urban Air Mobility, EHang Sets the Stage for Mass Production and Commercial Operations of its EH216-S Pilotless Aircraft

In a significant advancement for the urban air mobility (UAM) sector, EHang Holdings Limited (Nasdaq: EH), a global leader in UAM technology, has been awarded a Production Certificate (PC) for its EH216-S pilotless electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), according to a company press release. This marks the world’s first PC issued in the eVTOL industry and signifies a crucial step towards the mass production of the EH216-S, enabling EHang to commence commercial operations.

The certificate was presented during a ceremony in Guangzhou, China, at the International Conference Center of Huangpu District, attended by notable figures including Mr. Yinsong Xian, District Mayor of Huangpu District, Guangzhou; Mr. Wei Wang, Deputy Mayor of Yunfu City, Guangdong Province; and Mr. Heyong Lin, Director of the Airworthiness Division of the Central-South Regional Administration of the CAAC, among others.

The PC certifies that EHang has established a mass production quality management system that complies with the CAAC’s airworthiness regulations, authorizing it for mass production. The system includes extensive guidelines and documentation covering every production stage, from raw materials and supplier management to production quality control and after-sales services, ensuring safety and compliance with approved designs and requirements.

Mr. Heyong Lin commended EHang’s achievement, stating, “In the past six months, EHang’s EH216-S has secured three groundbreaking achievements in airworthiness certification: the world’s first TC, PC, and standard AC for the passenger-carrying UAV. EHang epitomizes a pioneering enterprise of a new business model in the Central and Southern region, representing new quality productive forces.”

Mrs. Dan Xu, Deputy District Mayor of Huangpu District, highlighted the milestone’s significance for the industrialization of the low-altitude economy, expressing optimism about the collaborative efforts propelling the industry towards a prosperous future.

EHang’s Founder, Chairman, and CEO, Mr. Huazhi Hu, emphasized the PC’s role in advancing towards commercial operations. “The issuance of the PC is pivotal for the EH216-S as it opens the door to mass production, and a crucial step for our advancement towards commercial operations,” he said, underlining the collaborative efforts with the CAAC and the company’s commitment to introducing safe, autonomous, and eco-friendly air mobility services globally.

EHang, known for its innovative UAV systems and solutions across various industries, has now secured all necessary certifications for the EH216-S, setting a precedent in the global UAM industry and advancing the realization of safe, autonomous, and eco-friendly urban air mobility accessible to everyone.
