For two men from San Antonio, a Sunday night cruise meant driving up the ramp from Interstate 35 North to Highway 281 South while cars passed.
The electric scooter duo was spotted by a MySA employee on the shoulder of the highway’s sharp curve near downtown around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. Given the poor visibility and tight space, scooter traffic created a backup as cars tried to safely drive onto I-37 without hitting the men.

The San Antonio Police Department said there were no calls regarding the two men on the highway.
“This type of behavior is dangerous and doesn’t happen too often,” said Christoper Ramos, SAPD’s Public Information Officer.

He added that cyclists or pedestrians are more likely to be seen on the shoulders of San Antonio’s highways.
Ramos said tickets for driving a “mobility device” on a freeway can be issued under the Texas Transportation Code.
