Robbers left their victim with stab wounds and a broken jaw when they stripped electric scooters and other belongings in Coventry.
Police were called to the incident on St. James Lane in Willenhall at around 8 p.m. on February 16.
The robbery is believed to have taken place near the Simply Local store, formerly The White Bear Pub.
The victim was stopped by four teenagers who knocked him to the ground and stabbed him before driving off on his scooter and personal effects.
The police asked anyone with information about the violent attack to contact them.
West Midlands police said: “We received a call after a man in his forties was robbed on St James Lane in Willenhall, Coventry at around 8:10 pm on Tuesday, February 16.
“We believe he was stopped by a group of four teenagers and beaten and thrown to the ground.
“He suffered a stab wound on his side and a broken jaw which were treated in hospital and luckily are not considered life changing.
“An electric scooter and personal effects were taken but have since been returned to the victim.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called on February 16 at 8:09 pm for reports of an attack.
“An ambulance, a paramedic and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance were there.
“On arrival we discovered a patient, a man, who was being treated for serious injuries before being taken to Coventry and Warwickshire University Hospital for further treatment.”
