Nebraska-based Scooter’s Coffee is planning on reentering the San Antonio market.

San Antonio is reuniting with a Nebraska-based coffee brand. Scooter’s Coffee, a chain of kiosk stands, is eyeing a new location near USAA.

According to filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the company is planning a small drive-thru kiosk at the intersection of Fredericksburg and Prue. Filings are subject to change and Scooter’s was not immediately available to comment on the project, but the submitted information includes a construction timeline from July 6 to October 10.

This wouldn’t be the coffee chain’s first location in San Antonio. Scooter’s previously had a kiosk at 12054 Blanco Road, between Castle Hills and Harmony Hills, that opened in 2017. It’s unclear when the location closed. There’s also a Scooter’s in Boerne, which opened in 2016.

The upcoming plans give USAA’s corporate office a new coffee option about a minute away.

The first Scooter’s opened in Bellevue, Nebraska in 1998 by Don and Linda Eckles. The shops have a menu that uses 100% Arabic beans. Their signature drink is the “Caramelicious.” Scooters has opened more than 300 locations in more than 20 states, according to the website.

The brand credits its success to the motto “Amazing people, amazing drinks…amazingly fast.”

Scooter’s plans come on the heels of other kiosk or drive-thru based brands expanding in San Antonio. Locally owned Brevity has added more kiosks recently and Dutch Bros, from the PNW, has hit San Antonio with an aggressive expansion since 2021.
