Ahead of CES 2022, Samsung announced the Freestyle, a lifestyle device that combines a projector and a smart speaker to deliver an experience that offers entertainment anywhere. Its most important aspects are its portable nature and design which, according to Samsung, allows you to play high quality videos anywhere, be it on the table, floor, wall or ceiling.
The projector is priced at $ 899 and pre-orders for the United States will start on January 4th with international markets to follow.
The device weighs 830 grams and is capable of auto-keystone and auto-leveling to ensure that your image is not skewed or distorted. Its detachable bracket also allows it to be rotated 180 degrees. It can also output an image up to 100 inches in size and has FHD + resolution.
Now the light source of the projector has a maximum brightness of 550 lumens. So the picture might be acceptable, but make sure you do more research before you take a bite the bullet.
For audio, it uses a passive radiator and 5W woofer, Samsung says the former allows for clean and deep bass without distortion, and the latter is responsible for its 360-degree sound. And for the power supply, The Freestyle can work with external batteries that implement USB-PD and have an output of 50 W / 20 V or more.
Samsung also makes some optional accessories for the projector, including a waterproof case and an adapter that allows you to screw the projector into a standard E26 lamp socket for power.
Controlling the device is easy thanks to the included remote control and the availability of Smart TV features found on other Samsung TVs. It is also compatible with Android and iOS devices. And when not in use as a projector, you can use the device as ambient light or as a smart speaker ready to listen to your requests.
The Freestyle is a portable projector and smart speaker that is perfect for use on the go.
But overall, freestyle seems to be an interesting product. Let us know what you think of this in the comments section.
