After a recent tease at London Fashion Week, Carl Pei-fronted company Nothing has confirmed it will announce its next set of true wireless earphones at an online launch on 26 October.
We don’t yet know if the new earphones will be a successor or brother to the Ear 1, but we do know they’re different than other true wireless headphones as the case appears to be a rather large tube-type device. Nothing says this is inspired by cosmetics. Does this mean it’ll have space for a super-big battery?
Nothing says that Ear Stick are “half in-ear true wireless earbuds” that are “made not to be felt when in use. They’re feather-light with an ergonomic design that’s molded to your ears. Delivered in a unique charging case, inspired by classic cosmetic silhouettes, and compactly formed to simply glide into pockets.”
Nothing adds that the new product will be available worldwide including in the USA – the Nothing Phone 1 smartphone didn’t end up being available in the US, possibly through a lack of carrier interest which is pretty much a pre-requisite for a US phone launch.
However, we felt the Phone 1 was a success – in our review we said “it would be all too easy to write Phone 1’s transparent design and glyph lighting off as a gimmick, but there’s a truly capable handset lurking underneath. The screen and cameras punch above their weight, the materials and build quality give it the feel of a more expensive device, and nothing clearly has big plans for its minimal take on Android – even if they haven’t been entirely realized at launch.”
