E-scooter drivers banned in Piccadilly for driving alcohol

A 19-year-old received an unwelcome Christmas present of a driving ban from the York judges.

Samuel Morgan appeared in court after being caught driving an e-scooter after drinking through downtown York.

The court heard that on Jan.

He passed a breath test that found 96 micrograms of alcohol in 100 milliliters of breath. The legal limit is 35 micrograms of alcohol.

Morgain of Stortford Road, Clavering, Essex pleaded guilty to drinking on an e-scooter.

He was sentenced to a fine of £ 200 and a statutory surcharge of £ 34 and £ 85 law enforcement costs.

He was disqualified from driving a vehicle on the streets for 18 months. He was given the opportunity to reduce the ban for 18 weeks by attending an approved rehab course for alcohol drivers at his own expense.
