Ban and positive on Whitehaven e-scooter drink drivers

Robbie Newton, 28, of Hill Top, pleaded guilty to the crime when he appeared before Workington Magistrates Court. Records show he committed the crime on December 10th while driving an e-scooter on Duke Street, Whitehaven.

At that time he had 84 mcg of alcohol in 100 ml of breath. The legal maximum limit for driving – also on e-scooters – is 35 mcg.

The judges fined the defendant £ 250, with a cost of £ 85 plus a sacrificial allowance.

They also imposed a 20-month ban. Newton was offered the alcoholic rehab course which, if completed within a set time limit, cuts the length of the ban by 20 weeks.
