Verge Aero Drone Present for Armed Forces Day

The United States Armed Forces Day Verge Aero Drone Show demonstrated that drone shows – and Verge Aero’s flight planning software – have reached an incredibly new level of precision and complexity.

Drone shows have evolved from an unusual fireworks alternative to a stand-alone must-have display, an art form that combines creativity with technical know-how to create breathtaking glasses. Drone shows also reveal the precision and complexity of formations that can be achieved by drone fleets as the software used to control the drones has evolved.

Last week in Georgia, the “annual Thunder Over Evans” event for 2021 returned after COVID restrictions were eased and provided the community with an opportunity to come together to honor members of the armed forces, “said a press release. “Event producers were keen to go one step further and add drones to their traditional fireworks to enhance the visual spectacle using Verge Aero’s sophisticated control capabilities. The result was a choreographed vision of colorful and dynamic fireworks explosions and drone imagery as Verge Eero’s fleet hoisted the US flag, spelled “US-A” and military logos from all five services, all perfectly synchronized with an accompanying soundtrack. “

“We’ve been celebrating our armed forces for over a decade and working to make them better every year,” says show producer Shane Thompson. “This year the Verge Aero wonder team joined us. They brought our event to a level that we couldn’t even imagine. The Verge Aero team was easy to edit, making changes we requested and even incorporating designs we had in mind for our show. “

Nils Thorjussen, CEO of Verge Aero, added: “We were honored and pleased to be part of this year’s Thunder Over Evans and were thrilled by the overwhelming response from the audience. With thousands of spectators and a tight operating environment, careful coordination with everyone involved was necessary in order to use our fleet safely and create a spectacular show. “

During the event, Verge Aero’s drones transformed into a series of words and images, including key symbols of American culture and the Stars and Stripes, to send vital messages in support of the armed forces. The 180 drones switched from displaying two-dimensional images to precisely animated 3D volume shapes. The drone show culminated in the delighted crowd repeatedly spelling the letters U, S, A in red, white and blue, which the letters called out together as they appeared in the sky.

Thompson added, “Verge Aero’s displays will reshape the visual display industry for years to come. Our greatest fear now is how our event might meet our audience’s expectations without them. We hope our relationship continues so that the Verge Aero comes back and helps us take our event to the next level. “
