The 14-year-old boy is charged with the homicide of a teenage e-scooter

A 14-year-old boy was charged with murder after a teenage boy who owned an electric scooter was stabbed to death in east London.

Fares Maatou, 14, died shortly before 4 p.m. on Friday from knife wounds in the Canning Town neighborhood of Newham.

Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced dead about half an hour later.

An autopsy in the East Ham morgue revealed the cause of death to be a stab wound.

So far, four youths have been arrested in connection with the murder, and police have confirmed that a boy, aged 14, had been charged with murder and possession of an assault weapon.

He is due to appear in Stratford Youth Court on Monday.

Two other boys, aged 15, have been released on bail and a third 15-year-old is still in police custody.
