Skydio 2+ with KeyFrame New autonomous capabilities

In the major product announcement of 2022, US drone manufacturer Skydio announced the Skydio 2+ with KeyFrame ™ capabilities, which offers new features and improvements for Skydio’s autonomous drone platform.

With Skydio KeyFrame, drone photographers and content creators can step up. Keyframe “is an AI capability that enables a user to design and record fluid, complex camera movements with just a few taps of the finger,” says the Skydio announcement.

Manual drones are difficult to fly, crash easily, and are useless in environments with severe GPS or compass interference, making it almost impossible for even an experienced pilot to create dynamic, fluid, and creative recordings in complex environments. With the introduction of KeyFrame, anyone can design impossible camera movements that are smooth, precise, and repeatable. The pilot selects his KeyFrames with just a few taps, and Skydio Autonomy creates a consistently smooth camera path between them. Once the KeyFrames are set, the user can play them forwards or backwards as many times as desired at any speed.

“One of the most important things that characterize professional productions is the movement of the camera. With the help of cranes, booms, and large production teams, Hollywood productions do really unique, interesting things. In the hands of an experienced pilot, drone footage can be very cinematic, ”said Skydio CEO Adam Bry. “KeyFrame makes this feature accessible to a new wave of developers. Hollywood-quality cinematography, available anywhere, anytime. “

In addition to KeyFrame, the Skydio 2+ offers the autonomy of the Skydio 2 with considerable hardware and software improvements. “With extended range, a more robust wireless connection and longer battery life, Skydio 2+ enables solo developers, outdoor adventurers, athletes, professionals and hobbyists – at every level – to get the most out of Skydio’s groundbreaking autonomy,” says the announcement.

The Skydio 2+ obstacle avoidance adds two omnidirectional external antennas that extend the range from 3.5 km to 6 km. The Skydio 2+ battery has been improved to provide 20% more flight time.

Skydio 2+ with KeyFrame starts at $ 1099: Customers can now protect their investment with Skydio Care, an optional protection plan that adds the Skydio 2+ limited warranty to “comprehensive coverage and rapid replacement for accidental damage caused by collisions, water damage and unrecoverable Landings “added, which means that a Skydio 2+ can be completely replaced for only 150 US dollars without asking questions.”
