Carl Pei, co-founder of OnePlus, reveals what he’s doing next
Back in October, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei had decided to leave the company and we were all wondering what he was up to next. Well, after a two-month hiatus, he has raised $ 7 million in funding for his new company. Investors include friends of his like Casey Neistat, Reddit’s Steve Huffman, and others, and it appears that Carl is planning to start an audio company. Pei claims he plans to use the capital to set up an office in London, hire talent and fund R&D. In fact, he posted a tweet titled “We’re hiring” that read, “Let’s build the future together.” According to a report by Wired, we can expect the first products to hit the market sometime next year, and Pei says the company will have a broader focus than just headphones. So yeah, apparently they want to be really aggressive about their vision and we can’t wait to see what they come up with.
Google’s 5G pixels are getting new adaptive features, older pixels are getting a ton of cool tricks too
Now, let’s get to Google, as the company has just released its latest “Pixel Feature Drop”. This means that it just added a ton of new features to .. pixels. For the newest Pixels, Adaptive Sound and Connectivity are probably the most interesting features. The phone uses the microphone to detect the acoustics in the area to adjust the equalizer and volume, and now automatically switches to 4G for basic tasks. Save some battery. Now there is also an adaptive battery available that detects when the user is missing out on their usual charging schedule and helps to extend battery life by controlling how quickly the phone charges. If you have an older Pixel, Google shows some love too, as in the case of the Pixel 3, where “Hold for Me” is now available so the Google Assistant can queue up for you when you’re on hold . Extreme Battery Saver, new Google Lens integration, Now Playing History and even more features have also made the cut. If you have a Pixel be sure to read the links in the description so you know everything you are getting.
Apple’s Airpods Max aren’t everything Apple hoped for
When we move on to Apple, let’s talk about AirPods Max for a second because you know that if Apple releases anything, we’ll get tidbits and details up to the post. If you want to dig deeper, we recommend checking out yesterday’s Pocketnow Daily where we talked about all the details. However, the AirPods Max are Apple’s new over-the-ear headphones that offer some interesting features for $ 549. Yes, $ 549. According to some new information, AirPods Max didn’t bring all of the features it should have. For example, they don’t come with the U1 ultra-wideband chip as it was rumored to be, but they still managed to provide spatial audio and other features. This is likely because Apple reportedly started mass production a little over a month ago after making many changes, according to Jon Prosser. However, Apple engineers claim that Cupertino had been developing these for a crazy 4 years when the original AirPods hit the market. Prosser also claims we will still get the sports version. But there really isn’t a time frame for that moment. We’ll keep you updated on the review as soon as our device arrives and it is supposed to be for my birthday.
FTC is suing Facebook for monopoly behavior and trying to reverse WhatsApp and Instagram deals
All right, we don’t usually handle lawsuits and the like unless it’s something important or something that affects consumers, like Epic vs Apple. That said, when it comes to my least favorite company, let’s talk. The FTC just announced that they are suing Facebook. This time it is about “illegally maintaining the monopoly of your personal social network through years of anti-competitive behavior”. The FTC is focusing this lawsuit on Facebook by using its power to remove threats to its monopoly and the impact it has on consumers. And it’s not the first time we’ve heard something like this, but this time the FTC is moving to federal court for a permanent injunction that could do the following: Divestiture of assets, including Instagram and WhatsApp, and Facebook to seek approval before mergers and acquisitions. That said, if all goes well for the FTC, Facebook would have to sell Instagram and WhatsApp and probably give us back some of our favorite apps. Now it’s early to tell how they just submitted it, but we’ll definitely keep you updated as we know many of you were mad about these latest updates.
The Samsung Galaxy S21 series can be blindly pre-ordered in India: report
The Samsung Galaxy S21 series appears in the official video teaser leak
And finally, the hottest news of the day has to do with Samsung and the Galaxy S21 series as we have a ton of leaks and reports today. We have some of the official video teasers for the upcoming devices that have been restored by Android Police. We get three different videos, the first two are almost identical and show the design of the S21 and the s21 + in the Phantom Violet color which looks pretty good. With the Ultra, however, the new camera module is highlighted, which shows the 4 or 5 different lenses that we get with this device in the gray color variant. We also expect the 108MP main sensor, a 12MP Ultra Wide, a 10MP 10x Tele and a 10MP 3x Tele for the Ultra. Borrowing from the design and cameras, Ice Universe claims we are getting a new ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that is 1.77 times larger than the previous generation and reportedly twice as fast as the last. According to him, you don’t even have to press, it’s a simple tap to unlock now. Finally, a new report from India also claims that the S21 will be introduced there later, but .. It is already available for pre-order. If you go to the opera house store, you can blindly pre-order the phone for 2000 rupees. So we expect these phones to hit the market sometime around January 14th and be available in stores by the end of the month. Other reports claim these could be $ 100 to $ 200 cheaper and bring S Pen support as rumors suggest that Sammy is getting rid of the Note line.
