Official news is coming today, so let’s talk about an interesting turn of events involving two things that don’t really go well together, Chromebooks and gaming. stop looking at me funny Yes, believe it or not, we have a new rumor that says we could get some gaming Chromebooks by the end of this year. A new report claims companies like Lenovo and HP are working on Chromebooks powered by Intel’s 12th-gen Alder Lake chip that would also include RGB keyboards. That lets you know it’s official. In case you’re wondering how that’s even possible. Well, last year NVIDIA announced its plans to bring DLSS and ray tracing technology to Chromebooks, even showing demos of games like Wolfenstein and The Bistro running on a Chromebook with a MediaTek chip and RTX graphics. Unfortunately the report doesn’t really mention any specs other than the codenames for these projects which are Taniks and Vell… Let’s see what we get by the end of this year because I think that would be interesting to see

Let’s get to Apple and the products I’m really excited about, the upcoming AirPods Pro. We’ve heard rumors for a long time, and now that we have a possible release date this fall, we’re hearing about new features. A new patent recently granted to Cupertino describes a new system that would allow AirPods Pro to automatically pause noise-cancelling mode using a hot word or keyword. Kind of like how the Google Assistant works when you say “Hey, G”. With this system, users could preset “interrupting and authorized” words that would cause the AirPods Pro to switch between ANC and transparency modes as soon as you say your keyword to hear your surroundings whenever you need it. The system would also be able to figure out false positives, which hopefully works well if someone else figures out your hot word. Of course, there’s no telling if this will actually make it to the final product, but it seems like an ingenious feature that would help in certain cases.

Let’s keep talking about Google that just pulled a Samsung… you’ll see why. We know Mountain View is prolific for their leak cycles, but we never really get leaks from them. According to a new Droid Life report, Google has shipped some coloring books and Nest devices to some of its fans, drawing some of their products in outline form, but someone just spotted something interesting in the products listed. In the list of featured products, Google accidentally included the Pixel 6a in the table of contents. For those of you who think this was intentional, when you go to the given page, there is nothing there. The site doesn’t even show smartphones. The coloring book was available online and also featured the Pixel 6a listed, but Google has corrected the page since the original report appeared. So yes, the Google Pixel 6a is definitely in the works and we’re reportedly getting it as early as May this year, meaning it’s going back to its original release schedule. We’re expecting a Pixel 6-like design with the Pixel 5a’s Tensor chip and camera, so… Let’s wait for the hands-on video.

For today’s hottest and official news, let’s get back to Apple and their latest software update. I know we don’t cover that much let alone this segment, but this is an important one because it finally completes the promise of iOS 15. Today, the company just released the iOS 15.4 beta, which also includes iPadOS 15.4 and macOS 12.3. If you’re wondering why it’s such a big deal when it’s still in beta, it’s because it offers some key features we’ve been waiting for, and even a pleasant surprise. Starting with this pleasant surprise, you can now use Face ID with your mask on, without the need for an Apple Watch. You can set up your Face ID again and it will require some additional scans to capture more detail around your eyes and authenticate your face while wearing a mask and it works with Apple Pay too. Universal Control is also now available, allowing you to seamlessly use your iPad and other Mac devices while using the keyboard and trackpad on your Mac. Online users claim that it actually works pretty well as advertised, with this video demo getting tons of likes on Twitter. It also brings 37 new emojis and iCloud Keychain Notes, but probably the biggest other feature is that it will allow third-party developers to run animations at 120Hz, allowing them to take full advantage of this feature.
