Piaggio India begins pre-booking for the Aprilia SXR-160 maxi scooter

The Italian two-wheeler giant Piaggio has been present on the Indian market for some time and offers premium scooters aimed at young buyers. At the beginning of this year, Piaggio presented its new product for our market at the Auto Expo. It was a brand new maxi scooter called the Aprilia SXR 160. Now Piaggio India has announced the opening of pre-reservations for the premium scooter coming soon. The booking amount for the new Aprilia SXR 160 is Rs 5,000 and can be made at the nearest dealer or via their website www.shop.apriliaindia.com. Piaggio has started production of this new maxi scooter at its factory in Baramati, Pune. Since pre-reservations have started, Piaggio is expected to launch the scooter soon.

On the occasion, Diego Graffi, Chairman and CEO of Piaggio India said: “It is a great feeling when our premium scooter, the Aprilia SXR 160, has been delivered from the production lines. 2020 was a challenging year, but we were determined to keep our promise to deliver the much-anticipated scooter at the earliest. We are pleased to announce that we have now opened the pre-reservation of the SXR 160 for our well-known customers, on our e-commerce platform and with all retailers across India. We believe the Aprilia SXR 160, with its unique next generation design and technologically advanced features, will create a new, eternal experience for Aprilia followers. “

The upcoming Aprilia SXR 160 currently has no direct competition on the market. The only other maxi scooter is Suzuki’s Burgman, a 125cc scooter. As the name suggests, the Aprilia SXR 160 gets a larger 160 cc engine. The power and torque values thereof are not given. Though they didn’t reveal the performance data, Aprilia says it will be high. The SXR 160 incorporates Aprilia’s latest global design language.

The Aprilia SXR 160 maxi scooter was developed in Italy for India and is said to offer a first combination of style, performance and exceptional comfort, coupled with great experience. The SXR 160 will get features like wraparound LED headlights, LED taillights, fully digital cluster, mobile connectivity option, longer, bigger and more comfortable seats, adjustable rear suspension, disc brakes with ABS and signature Aprilia graphics.

Aprilia SXR 160 will be available in the attractive colors Glossy Red, Matt Blue, Glossy White and Matt Black. SXR 160 is the product of extensive research and development that the brand has undertaken over the past two years. Aprilia currently offers SR 125 and SR150 scooters on the market. As soon as the SX 160 maxi scooter hits the market there is a chance Aprilia will launch a lower capacity version (likely 125cc).

Once launched, the Aprilia SXR 160 is expected to be the most expensive offering in its range. Aprilia was born in racing and is the real sporty flagship of the Piaggio Group. Vespa is also part of Piaggio and was launched in India in April 2012. The company has a state-of-the-art facility in Baramati, Maharashtra, which, in addition to the Aprilia SR range, also produces the iconic Vespa and a range of 3 and 4 commercial vehicles with wheels in a separate production facility in Baramati.
