Pune: A stranger’s ride on Wakad-Hinjewadi-Strasse cost a 25-year-old man his scooter, cash and cell phone worth a total of 42,000 rupees in the early morning hours of Friday.
The suspect hit the victim, Vishwas Ugale, in the legs with an iron bar before escaping on his scooter. Ugale filed an FIR with the Hinjewadi Police on Saturday evening.
Hinjewadi Police Sub-Inspector Kavita Rupnar said Ugale runs a flex printing business in Dange Chowk, Wakad. At around 1:00 a.m. on Friday, when Ugale returned to his home in Adarshnagar, Hinjewadi, the suspect stopped him near the Wakad Police Station and asked him to drop him off at Dange Chowk. The man later told Ugale to drop him off at Hinjewadi. “When they got to Hinjewadi around 1:30 am, the man told Ugale to stop because his house is nearby,” said Rupnar.
When they stopped, the suspect pulled out an iron bar he had hidden in his clothes and hit Ugale on his legs. “After hitting Ugale, he grabbed his cell phone and 2,600 rupees and fled on Ugale’s scooter,” she said.
