Taiwanese manufacturer Kymco recently launched the Like 125 EV, an electric scooter that can travel 199 kilometers on a single charge. The Like 125 EV is the Taiwanese company’s latest electric scooter offering, featuring a sleek look and familiar ergonomics. The Kymco Like 125 EV draws its power from a small electric motor with an output of up to 3,200 watts or around 4.3 hp and enough space for five batteries, which enable a range of up to 199 kilometers. it is powered by Kymco’s proprietary Ionex battery technology, which supposedly only takes an hour to charge. Each battery can be charged about 1,000 times over the course of its service life.
The two-wheeler has a similar styling to its gas-powered stable mates. Just like the hugely popular Like 125 and Like 150 that are popular across Asia and Europe, the EV gets some finer elements like the headlight cover. The handle on the back as well as the cover on the headlight are kept in a striking blue and set the Like 125 EV apart from its ICE counterparts.
The Like 125 EV weighs in at just 94 kilograms, making it easy to get around town. In addition, the scooter has technical features and can connect to smartphones via an app to access information such as speed and battery level. The display panel is also fully digital and shows all information in a clearly legible and easy-to-read manner.
The Kymco Like 125 EV will cost around 1,200 euros in Europe, making it relatively affordable for the general public. It remains to be seen whether Kymco will develop a marketing strategy for this model in the future, particularly in Asia and parts of Central America.
