Hawthorn East man suffers head accidents after scooter hit-and-run on Boxing Day

A Melbourne man was left lying on a footpath with head injuries after he was struck by a motorized scooter in a hit-and-run on Boxing Day.
The 64-year-old was walking north on Burke Rd near Ryeburne Ave in Hawthorn East just before 6pm when a motorized scooter lost control next to him.
The scooter mounted the gutter and rode along the footpath with its foot pegs scraping along the ground.

It then hit the man and he fell to the ground, striking his head on the pavement.

The man was treated for multiple head injuries and has since been released from hospital.

Police are urgently searching for the scooter rider and have released a CCTV image of him.
