Starting this month, UVL Robotics will offer drone delivery in Oman and serve Oman’s largest city, Muscat: Integration with the local delivery service. The company has also been given permission to fly out of line of sight (BVLOS).
According to a UVL press release, the drone delivery project in Oman is “the first and only of its kind” in the region.
UVL Robotics’ project provides the opportunity to bring drone deployment to communities on a large scale. By obtaining official approvals for the BVLOS flight – a long process that required approval from the Royal Oman Airforce (RAFO), the Royal Oman Police (ROP) and the National Survey Authority (NSA) – the UVL implementation is in the Range not restricted. Thanks to the cooperation with the local delivery service, customers are already at hand for the service: The service does not have to build up a business with individual dealers or consumers.
Eugene Grankin, CEO of UVL Robotics, says that while the process of obtaining approvals was complex, it was well worth it. “It was a rewarding experience to bring our technologies to life. The UVL team has gained the trust of the local authorities to move the project forward – I am very grateful to everyone who was involved in this process. It’s a new milestone in delivery service history, ”said Grankin.
For customers in Muscat, drone delivery in Oman means faster service with no delays due to heavy traffic or infrastructure. The project gives customers the opportunity to choose their preferred delivery method. Contactless delivery can be a top choice, especially in the current pandemic.
“Everything is safe and easy,” says the UVL’s press release. “Drones are pretty mobile; You can even reach regions that are difficult to access. “
Perhaps most importantly, research shows that citizens who experience the benefits of commercial drones through services such as drone delivery are more positive about drone technology. In Oman, the UVL Robotics project can help advance the entire industry.
