Percepto, the leading provider of autonomous inspection and surveillance solutions, announced today that it has received operating license to fly its proprietary autonomous drones in an Australian location beyond the line of sight (BVLOS). The waiver granted by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) enables Percepto to conduct a full remote inspection of the facility, paving the way for many similar waivers for Percepto customers on a national basis.

This success is particularly significant for the Australian market as many of the country’s facilities are in remote locations, prompting companies to increasingly adopt remote operations to manage, monitor and secure their locations. The permit will also enable mines, refineries and other high-risk locations to manage safety and environmental risks more effectively while increasing productivity and reducing downtime.

Percepto and BVLOS flight

As the provider of the most widely adopted drone-in-a-box solution in the market, Percepto has an industry-leading track record of regulatory innovation. The company was recently invited to join the FAA’s BVLOS Aviation Rulemaking Committee and was also inducted into the FAA’s first group of the FAA’s Type Certification Process (TC).

“Percepto commends CASA for its efforts to safely integrate autonomous drone technology into commercial operations,” said Dor Abuhasira, CEO and co-founder of Percepto. “We are confident that our customers will receive similar approvals in a few months, so that remote operations centers are easily accessible for any company developing their autonomous drone program.”

“With Percepto receiving this regulatory approval, we see tremendous opportunities for autonomous drones to improve industrial operations in remote areas given the vast expanses of Australia,” commented Jackie Dujmovic, CEO of Hover UAV and board member of Safeskies Australia and the Australian Association of Uncrewed Systems . “It is pioneering the way critical infrastructure managers can inspect assets and monitor locations while gaining real-time insights based on collected data faster than ever before. The development is as significant as the first take-off of drones in Australia. “
