Canine assault Queensland: Footage exhibits second pet escapes from residence to assault man on mobility scooter

A man has been attacked by a dog while riding his disability scooter near Brisbane, putting him in hospital for days.

The man was walking his own dog in the Ipswich suburb of Leichhardt on Sunday morning.

Home security camera footage supplied to 7NEWS shows the dog escaping from a property on Ludwig St while an occupant was putting something in a wheelie bin on the kerb.

The dog raced up to the man and his dog and attacked them, the footage shows.

The occupant and other people nearby were able to pull the dog away.

Ipswich City Council confirmed someone known to the victim has reported the incident.

According to the council, the man suffered injuries to his arm and finger.

He was taken to Ipswich Hospital, where he remained on Wednesday morning.

The man’s dog was also injured and is being treated by the RSPCA.

The attacking dog has been impounded by the council following an investigation.

However, the fate of the dog, the breed of which has not been revealed, is yet to be decided.
