DroneShield has announced its successful completion of the Counter Uncrewed Aerial Systems Sandbox 2022 exercise in Alberta, Canada. The exercise was led by the Canadian Joint Operations Command (CJOC), in coordination with the Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Navy (RCN), Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), and Canadian Special Operations Forces Command (CANSOFCOM).

The exercise reflected a synthesis of necessities and elements of interest to one or more of the services, in addition to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

From September 12th to October 7th 2022 at the Suffield Research Center of Defense Research and Development Canada (DRDC), 14 private sector participants companies demonstrate innovative technology for detecting and/or defeating unmanned aerial system (UAS) threats during the Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems ( CUAS) Sandbox as part of the Department of National Defense (DND) Innovation for Defense Excellence and Security (IDEaS) program.

Also participating in the exercise was the US Department of Defense’s Irregular Warfare Technical Support Directorate (IWTSD), which served as an official Application Evaluator and Observer, providing participants with international exposure, expertise, and feedback.

“North America is the single largest market for DroneShield, and Canada represents a growing segment, where we already have an existing customer base along with a pipeline of further projects,” said DroneShield CEO Oleg Vornik. “This exercise was a valuable opportunity to connect with key decision-makers at a number of government agencies, and demonstrate our latest C-UAS capabilities to these existing and prospective customers.”
