Blacksmith says they will be opening dealerships soon where customers can experience the scooters pretty well. At the same time, deliveries are confirmed by the end of 2021.
In 2019, a Chennai-based electric vehicle maker, Blacksmith Electric, was pretty excited about launching in 2020. However, Murphy struck and it went downhill. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel and Blacksmith Electric has now started pre-booking its scooters. The electric scooter range includes B2, B3, B4 and B4 +. The pre-reservation amount is Rs 1,000 and is also refundable. Both the B4 and the B4 + are the new electric scooters in the range. While the basic design requirement has remained the same from the B3, there are certain changes. The blacksmith says the B4 is for those looking for both personal transportation and logistics (B4 +). The scooter has a 5 kW AC motor and an NMC battery with an intelligent Bluetooth BMS. The maximum torque is 96 Nm. There is both GPS and artificial intelligence.
The blacksmith states a charging time of just four hours. Blacksmith’s electric two-wheelers are unique in that customers, or rather pillion riders, are given a safety belt in the shape of a lap. There are also new turn signals that work in sync with traffic signals. A sliding footrest for children and a backrest indicate the comfort angle. The ground clearance is a generous 210 mm, while the scooter is equipped with disc brakes at both ends. In terms of range, 120 km are claimed and the Li-ion batteries are also replaceable. The maximum speed is 120 km / h, while the driver can adjust the speed limit – 60 km / h, 80 km / h and on.
Blacksmith says they will be opening dealerships soon where customers can experience the scooters pretty well. At the same time, deliveries are promised by the end of 2021. Prices have not been disclosed, but given the design and features, we expect a premium. AR Karthigeyan, MD of Blacksmith Electric says, “The price will be good value for money and will be competitive with all other products currently available.”
