The 2021 Piaggio Beverly is available in two versions and is a sporty interpretation of the Italian scooter. As the parent company of Vespa, the Piaggio Scooter brand is no less well known in Italy, but it markets a more contemporary design style.
Keeping the retro scooter look for the Vespa range, the Piaggio Beverly focuses on the modern side of things, with swoopy body panels, LED lighting, and a bus line that starts on the front wheel axle and pulls up to the rear. New for 2021 are two power plants, both Euro 5-compliant from the HPE (High Performance Engine). Malaysian drivers know this engine from the Vespa 300 GTS HPE Super Tech (RM 33,000), which was launched earlier this month.
The Beverly has a liquid-cooled four-cylinder HPE single-cylinder mill with a displacement of 300 cm³ and 400 cm³. For the 300 cc engine, the output is 25.8 HP at 8,000 rpm and 26 Nm torque at 6,250 rpm, which is an increase in output and torque of 23% and 15%, respectively, compared to the engine of the previous generation corresponds.
The 400 cm³ variant of the HPE motor has an output of 35.4 hp at 7,500 rpm and 37.7 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. The 400 hp engine replaces the previous 350 cm³ version and offers better performance and improved rideability for suburban tours with medium and long range.
The wheel sizes for the Beverly are 16-inch alloy with seven spokes at the front and 14-inch alloy at the rear, tire sizes 110/70 front and 140/70 rear for the 300, while the 400 is 120/70 front and 150 / receives. 70 rear rubber. Brand name suspension is used on the Beverly, with Showa front forks that are 35mm in diameter and two Showa rear shock absorbers that are adjustable for preload.
In the cockpit, a 5.5-inch LCD instrument panel displays all the required information as well as Piaggio’s MIA connectivity – standard equipment on the 400 HPE – which is connected to the driver’s smartphone via Bluetooth. Also standard is the keyless entry system for the Beverly, which enables keyless start, access to the seat and fuel filler cap and steering lock without the driver having to pull the key out of his pocket.
Bianco Luna, Blu Oxigen and Grigio Cloud are available for the Piaggio Beverly, all in metallic tones and combined with a dark brown seat and light gray wheels. The Beverly S is available in the colors Argento Cometa and Nero Tempesta in matt, while the Arancio Sunset has a glossy finish that goes with a black seat and dark gray wheels.
